Dieser Mann ist in Gottes Augen unendlich wertvoll. Wir dürfen unsre Augen nicht vor solchem Elend verschliessen. Schau dich um. Wem kannst du heute in seiner Hoffnungslosigkeit, in seinem Elend, begegnen? Wende deinen Blick nicht ab.....
English: Rescue out of misery
On Tuesday evening a few of our team went under the bridges of Houston, to offer food, conversation, and prayers to the homeless. A man lay crouched up in one corner. Vicky, my Irish friend, went to him and started a conversation. He was barely able to articulate anything. To Vicky, he seemed as helpless as a little child. The other homeless were perplexed about his condition as well. They had given him a blanket, on which he could lie, after they had found him lying on the wet concrete floor. Vicky, a trained physical therapist, assumes that this man recently had a stroke. She didn't want to leave him helpless on the street, and promised to find help and come back the next day. When Vicky came to pick him up the next day with a few other people, she could see that he was waiting for her joyously, even though he couldn't verbalize this. They searched his backpack for an ID. The homeless have to identify themselves to be able to be admitted into the rescue shelters. The backpack was completely empty, save for one single chicken nugget. Thank God they found a shelter that took him in without an ID, due to his condition. Once there, they brought him to bed. The man was as helpless and thankful as a little child.
This man is extremely precious in God's eyes. We must not close our eyes to such misery. Look around you. Who can you meet in their hopelessness, their misery today? Don't turn your gaze away.....
