Yesterday evening we drove downtown with a truck full of muffins and water bottles, and distributed the food among the homeless, that had already settled down for the night. Houston is huge! We went to two different places, at which about 50 homeless people were gathered each. The people were pleased with our gifts, some wanted to engage in small talk, others wanted to talk about their difficulties and problems, some even wanted to pray. It was beautiful to see how several team members had already built up relationships with individuals. Some have such a gift to freely and easily interact with the people there, and not to give them the feeling that we are the good, merciful helpers and they are the poverty-stricken needy. It was a good time, and I am already looking forward to the next time.
